About Us

JJ Fourie

Hey I'm JJ! I'd like to think of myself as an online 'entrepreneur' (maybe even a risk taker), who simply doesn't understand the structure of a conventional  job, which sets your rules, hours and performance expectations! I don't want any alarm clock or boss telling me when to wake up and sleep everyday. I'm happy to decide that myself thank you very much..lol!!

I've dabbled in restauranteering, scuba diving instruction, and then opened my very own tourism business in Barcelona which ranked No.2 on Trip Advisor at the time. I never dreamed of what would happen next. A back injury from my rugby days re-emerged and left me unable to work my business in a field I was very indispensable in. I ran the show and hadn't even given it a thought that if something happens to me, what then happens to my business.  Everything came crashing down...

I closed shop, left Barcelona to be close to my family, living in Australia, while I underwent a crucial operation.

Recovery was slow, but even slower was the rise to find satisfying work again. I took on contract work and other odd jobs. I hated someone else micro-managing me... not my style at all..lol!!  Starting my own business again seemed impossible.

I met my partner in Australia, also a South African, we shared common goals and interests. However after her son was diagnosed with a chronic brain disorder, she just wanted to get away from her new shocking reality, and give him the space he needs to live a more peaceful life.

Hi I'm JJ, a South African born expat:)

Night out with Ana in Sydney.jpg

We love good food and wine! Business events are a good excuse for us to experiment with foods from different countries..Lol!!

And so the journey began...

We decided to leave town - make a hopeful change...

June 2017

Packed up in Sydney and left for Bali. No money and no real plan. But desperate to give my partners son with a chronic disorder, a better life in a more peaceful setting...

December 2017

The financial struggle was becoming insurmountable. From paying rent, to simply putting food on the table - was not happening! Then Xmas:( - no money to enjoy it!

January 2018

The 'blame game' started, and along with it a not so peaceful home - not at all what I intended. The new year was already upon us! What now :(

February 2018

Down to -$1.87 (negative) in the bank account. I started desperately searching for online work. This would surely be the answer. Then, out of nowhere, a small Ad appeared...I asked for more info, what more could I possibly lose right? then, What?? Is this for real?? My own hours?  OMG:)

This was it!! The perfect opportunity to work for myself again!!

The rest, as they say, IS HISTORY!! :)

It doesn't feel like work when you're doing it from absolutely anywhere you like!

Yet we still call the island of Bali our home:)
